Nursery nightlights and nursery lamps have improved immensely over the last couple of decades. Nursery nightlights used to be not much more than a bulb plugged into a socket, but they have evolved into ornate decorative pieces that are more than just functional. Nursery lamps have been improved upon and stylishly enhanced, not to mention the addition of nursery nightlights being built into the base of some models.
Nursery nightlights can now be found in a variety of themes. Just about any creature or creation you can think of has been made into a decoration for nursery nightlights. Butterfly nursery nightlights have been a long time favorite of moms around the world, and they will not be disappointed when shopping for their new butterfly nightlights. Stained glass is now being used to produce lovely pieces of art that also act as a nightlight and enhance the theme of a nursery. Stained glass nursery lamps are also being produced, but the cost can be prohibitive, depending on your financial situation. There is also safety in the future to consider if you are considering stained glass for your nursery, once your baby is crawling or walking, stained glass may not be the very best thing to have around an inquisitive child, but you can always move them to your room and get a new nursery lamp or nightlight at that time.

Space themed rooms have become very popular and you will find nursery nightlights and nursery lamps that will fit this motif very well. Nursery lamps are being made with space shuttles as the base, or even a moon and stars. Picking your nursery theme is much harder than finding a nursery lamp or nightlight to fit your theme. However, you can window shop for nursery nightlights and nursery lamps to get good ideas for the theme that you would like for your newborn or even for a toddler room.
Pay close attention when shopping for a nursery lamp, if you are low on funds, you will want to find one that will fit any theme you choose over the next few years. Also take heed that once your child is walking, they most likely will have a mishap or two while playing with their nursery lamps because they look so cool and fun. This is where you need to consider the material and durability of your nursery lamps, so that you are not needing to purchase a new one every time your child accidentally knocks it over. Many nursery lamps are being made from plastics and polymers that are closer to indestructible than say stained glass or some other fragile constructions.

Your child will most likely want to touch and play with their nursery nightlights, so be sure when they hit this age that your nursery nightlight is made of a less fragile material also. Because your child will naturally be inquisitive, you really should invest in some plug-in covers to help eliminate the risk of your baby being shocked. Even the most well behaved child is going to want to touch everything while they are young and curious, this is how they learn of course, so it is our job to try to keep them safe. The closer to floor level you can have your nursery lamps the better, less distance to fall. Please do not put any lights, especially with a cord hanging down, on a high shelf. Even though you are sure there is no way your baby can reach the cord, this is how accidents happen often in the nursery.

Because you and your baby may decide that a new theme is in order for the nursery, it is a good idea to choose nursery lamps that have lampshades available in multiple colors. This way you can easily change the look and style of your nursery lamps with a simple lampshade change, rather than needing a new nursery lamp. Nursery nightlights are a little more static, but usually less conspicuous, but still need some consideration when choosing your first theme. It is always better to be prepared and save a few bucks, at least that has always been my upbringing…call me frugal

Since we are on the subject, let’s talk about the general pricing of nursery nightlights and nursery lamps. Plain nursery nightlights will start at around $5 and go up from there, stained glass nursery nightlights will run in the $25 range, and the stuffed animals that emit a lightshow will cost a bit more. I am sure if you search hard enough you could pay a whole lot more, but most consumers will keep their nursery nightlighs budget around $20 each. Nursery lamps are of course more spendy, and usually begin in the $25 range. A nice nursery lamp with built in nursery nightlight will generally cost around $40 and up, seems pretty high, but you also will not have to worry about separate nightlights this way. Specialized nursery lamps and nightlights will be more costly and you can undoubtedly find them at any price you can dream of, due to quality and material that may be chosen. Personalized nursery lamps and nursery nightlights are available and some purveyors are pretty reasonable, this is a great option for when your child is reaching the toddler stage and wanting to show off that this is their room.
